I am currently recruiting for a Payroll manager to take on a newly created role to manage a team of 20 payrollers. Working for an ever evolving business, the successful candidate needs to have full understanding of the end to end payroll function as well as people management skills. My client runs multiple daily payrolls for up to 9000 employees. Previous experience within a fast paced role is a necessity. Job Description:

  • Overseeing the completion of daily payrolls for a number of services (CIS/ PAYE/ Umbrella/ Outsourced)
  • Complete all validations and reconciliations
  • Ensure all payroll controls are adhered to by the department – creating new controls as required
  • Completing statutory payments
  • Authorising payment advances
  • Undertaking year end projects and delegating tasks accordingly to the team
  • RTI reconciliations
  • CIS returns
  • Management of work place pension schemes
  • Monitor expenses processing procedures
  • Complete daily bank reconciliations – ensuring cash flow is well managed
  • Ensure all SLA’s and deadlines are met
  • Reporting on team KPI’s
  • Identifying training needs and required process improvements
  • Training of all new employees and refreshing long standing staff on process improvements
  • Completing staff 1-2-1s and appraisals
  • Ensuring continual process improvements

Requirements:

  • Previous payroll team leader or management experience (Applicants with the right skill set and attitude, looking to step up will be welcomed)
  • Understanding of all payroll compliance and legislation
  • Ability to work within and constantly adapt to a fast paced and high volume environment
  • Be achievement and goal orientated
  • Accept responsibility for overall team performance
  • Customer focused approach
  • Problem solving ability
  • Excellent people management skills (Appraisals/ 121’s/ Training needs)
  • Working towards CIPP qualification (Highly advantageous although not essential)
  • Excel skills
  • Sage 50 payroll experience is highly advantageous
  • CIS Experience is advantageous
