Senior Purchase Ledger Clerk/ Finance Assistant/ Group Business/ 28 Days Holiday+ BHs/ Competitive Salary/ Practice Experience

I am working on an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance assistant who has had exposure to the full end to end accounts payable process for a group business. My client operates within multiple sectors and owns a large portfolio of businesses. This role requires a high degree of attention to detail as well as the ability to effectively multi task and manage varied deadlines and payment terms.

Job Description:

  • Invoice processing for multiple businesses – ensuring that all invoices are authorised, processed and paid within individual business payment terms
  • Checking and investigating all invoices, matching to relevant documentation and querying with both suppliers and individual business managers accordingly
  • Gaining authorisation for all invoices prior to payment
  • Statement reconciliations for all individual businesses – chasing copies of missing invoices as required
  • Expenses processing for business owners and family members – VAT calculations
  • Management of all business purchase orders
  • Monitoring of spend per business
  • Maintaining relationships with external suppliers and internal business managers
  • Monitoring and management of 2 charity accounts
  • Processing of utilities invoices
  • Investigating utilities invoices to ensure accuracy and challenge any discrepancies, requesting credits and contracts renewals as required


  • Previous experience within a varied accounting role with advanced experience of the purchase ledger
  • Previous experience within a group business or accountancy practice is highly advantageous
  • Knowledgeable and confident business approach
  • Investigative nature
  • High degree of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent time management skills – ability to manage multiple time deadlines
  • Ability to work in a sometimes pressured capacity
  • AAT qualifications are highly advantageous although not essential
  • Ability to work as part of a small team whilst also independently managing individual work flow
  • Strong accountancy systems skills- Previous experience of the Qube system is highly advantageous , although not essential
