About the Firm
NC Associates is delighted to be working with a long-established and well-respected Accountancy Practice based in Wirral. The firm is forward-thinking, ambitious, and focused on delivering an excellent client service. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their Wirral office.

The business offers a supportive and encouraging working environment, with flexible hybrid working.

 

Standalone Payroll Specialist Key Responsibilities

  • Managing weekly and monthly payrolls and pension schemes for a portfolio of clients

  • Processing payroll changes including starters, leavers, bonuses, overtime, sickness, unpaid leave, SMP, SAP, expenses, childcare vouchers, travel allowances and pensions

  • Uploading and managing pension contributions across multiple pension providers

  • Setting up PAYE and pension schemes for new clients

  • Liaising with clients and HMRC, including submission of tax, NI, P45s, P46s, P11Ds and CIS returns

  • Responding to payroll-related queries

  • Producing spreadsheets to support payroll and CIS reporting

  • Ensuring compliance with current HMRC and pension legislation

  • Filing confirmation statements with Companies House

  • Onboarding new clients, completing MLR checks and setting them up on internal systems

  • Managing agent authorisations for tax purposes

  • Working closely with clients and directors

  • Handling incoming and outgoing post

 

Standalone Payroll Specialist Experience

  • Previous experience within an accountancy practice is essential

  • Strong working knowledge of BrightPay and BrightPay Connect

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

  • Excellent understanding of PAYE and Auto Enrolment

  • Able to work independently, manage workloads, and meet deadlines

  • Proactive approach to problem-solving

  • Basic knowledge of how payroll interacts with other tax areas

  • Confident and professional communicator
