Role Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a proactive and technically strong Accounts Senior to join the Accounts team. This role is suited to a qualified accountant who enjoys managing client relationships, overseeing compliance work, and supporting junior team members.
You will manage a portfolio of clients, ensure high-quality delivery of accounts and tax work, and play an active role in team development and workflow management.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory accounts files and associated working papers to manager/director review stage
- Prepare corporation tax computations and director personal tax returns where applicable
- Review work prepared by junior team members, providing clear feedback and ensuring review points are addressed
- Liaise directly with clients to discuss accounts, resolve queries and maintain strong working relationships
- Ensure accounts and tax returns are submitted in line with internal compliance and statutory deadlines
- Assist in managing workflow and client deadlines to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery
- Monitor fee recovery and highlight any concerns to senior management
- Act as a key point of contact for a portfolio of clients, keeping them informed of progress
- Support and mentor junior colleagues from apprentice through to senior level
- Identify potential advisory or cross-service opportunities within the client base
Requirements
- ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years’ post-qualified experience within practice
- Strong technical knowledge of FRS102, FRS102 Section 1A and FRS105
- Experience preparing consolidated accounts
- Proven experience managing client relationships
- Experience reviewing and mentoring junior staff
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively at all levels
