Finance Manager Role
NC Associates are working exclusively with a well-established specialist supplier of stainless‑steel tube, with a headquarters in Tamworth, the business has grown to supply critical sectors including automotive, medical and defence.
As the Finance Manager you will take ownership of the company’s financial function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, supporting strategic decision‐making, and driving improvements in financial performance and control to support growth and operational excellence
You will report to the Group Finance Manager and will lead a small finance team of 4 staff.
Finance Manager Responsibilities (with the support of the Group Finance Manager)
- Lead the month‑end, year‑end financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of P&L, balance sheet (and cash flow in long term).
- Overview the preparation of management accounts, variance analysis and financial commentary to senior management.
- Overview the timely completion of supplier statement reconciliations (monthly for key accounts, quarterly for other accounts)
- Provide insightful financial analysis to support operational and strategic decisions (e.g., cost control, margin improvement, capital expenditure, investment appraisal).
- Oversee cash flow management, working capital optimisation (inventory, receivables, payables) and liaise with banks/factoring company/finance providers as required.
- Ensure robust internal controls, financial policies and procedures are in place and adhered to (including audit requirements).
- Lead and develop the finance team: training, mentoring, setting objectives and ensuring continuous improvement in processes and systems.
- Work closely with operational functions (sales, purchasing, quality control) to understand financial impacts and support commercial decision‑making.
- Drive process improvements (e.g., ERP/finance system upgrades, automation of reporting).
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (UK GAAP/IFRS as applicable), tax legislation, and company group reporting requirements.
- Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts and business plans; monitor performance against them and highlight risks/opportunities (long term goal)
Qualifications & Experience:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent.
- Significant post‑qualification experience in a finance management role, ideally in a manufacturing/distribution environment.
- Sage Line 50 experience strongly preferred.
- Experience of producing management accounts, budgeting/forecasting and financial analysis.
- Strong understanding of working capital management and cash‑flow forecasting.
- Experience of leading a team and driving process improvements.
- Familiarity with ERP/financial systems and ideally system implementation or upgrade experience.
- Strong Excel skills (and ideally experience with pivot tables, lookups etc)

- Strong commercial awareness and ability to partner with operational functions.
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple deadlines and deliver under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Proactive, hands‑on approach with a willingness to roll up sleeves in a busy environment.
- Attention to detail coupled with a strategic mindset.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
Reporting Line
- This role will report to the Group Finance Manager and will have direct line‑management responsibility for the finance team (e.g., Management Accountants/ Accounts Payable/Receivable staff).
Key Metrics / Success Factors
- Timely and accurate monthly/annual financial close.
- Improvement in working capital (reducing supplier payments on account and reducing customer overdue/disputed invoices).
- Implementation of process improvements and efficiencies in the finance function.
- Effective support of business decisions through financial insight.
