Role Overview

NC Associates are working on an exclusive basis with a long established and forward thinking property business which are looking to recruit a Service Charge Accountant to work closely with the property surveyors and senior management team. As a Service Charge Accountant you will be essential in delivering robust financial information alongside the rest of the finance team. As a Service Charge Accountant you will work within the Property Accounts Team and will be a strong and self motivated individual with excellent organizational and communication skills. You will be meticulous with a keen attention to detail and will strive to continuously improve systems and processes. It is important you are experienced in the completion of annual Service Charge Reconciliation’s including part period reconciliation’s in line with property acquisitions and disposals, as well as maintaining/reporting service charge budget v’s expenditure throughout the year. Having the ability to work well as part of a wider team engaging with customers, Facilities Team and Asset Management teams, providing an excellent service is essential to this role.

Service Charge Accountant Responsibilities to include:

  • Completion of service charge reconciliation’s service charge audit journal adjustments
  • Maintain service charge budget tracker
  • Maintain customer on accounts and apportionments Ensure RICS best practice guidelines are achieved Monitor Budget v’s Expenditure
  • Monitor void liabilities
  • Process customer balancing charges and supporting documents Monitor Cashflow/funding
  • Customer query resolution
  • Develop and maintain active communication both with the Property Accounts Team and all internal departments

Experience Required

  • Previous experience of working within the property sector as a service charge accountant
  • Previous experience within service charges
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to change
  • Must be highly efficient and organised
  • Must have a can-do attitude
  • Proficient user of Excel and other Microsoft products
  • Must be able to organise their own workload and prioritise effectively
  • Must have excellent communication skills and good telephone manner
